UK tour of The Cat And The Canary

Briony Rawle has joined the cast of Bill Kenwright Productions’ The Cat And The Canary as understudy for their six-month UK tour.

She joins Bond girl Britt Ekland, West End star Marti Webb, Emmerdale and Heartbeat’s Mark Jordon, Coronation Street’s Tracy Shaw and Nikki Patel, and Minder’s Gary Webster on the show, which will tour UK venues until August.

Briony has been fortunate to enjoy generous stage time so far during the tour. Due to cast illness Briony stepped into the role of Susan Sillsby for the first three weeks at the Windsor Theatre Royal, the Princess Theatre Torquay, and the Queen’s Theatre Barnstaple, then covered Britt Ekland as Mrs Pleasant at Malvern Festival Theatre and the Bath Theatre Royal. She also stepped into the lead role for Tracy Shaw at the Lichfield Garrick.

Here are some of her mentions from the reviews:

“Star turn Britt Ekland was absent due to illness. Her role as mysterious housekeeper Mrs Pleasant was taken over at the last moment by Briony Rawle, and it must be said that she did a fantastic job, evoking memories of the Mrs Danvers role in Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca.”
The Malvern Gazette

“Briony Rawle (Mrs. Pleasant) was in control as the ageing housekeeper”
The Bath Echo

“Understudy Briony Rawle, however, did an admirable job in the role of skilfully sinister housekeeper Mrs Pleasant.”
The Bath Magazine
